Lowering Your Taxes:

Tom Reynolds knows that to attract businesses and families to Western New York, taxes must be lower.   He has fought to make this a reality at the federal level, working to enact pro-growth, pro-family tax relief that creates the environment for a strong economy, good jobs, and puts more money into the pockets of hard-working Western New Yorkers.   
 
And while these pro-growth, pro-family tax policies have led to strong economic growth nationally, Western New York still suffers from the highest per-capita taxes in the country. That's why Tom Reynolds will continue to fight for vital tax relief for working families and businesses that help create jobs in Western New York.  He will fight for:

• Middle-class relief from the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) or "Stealth Tax";
• Permanent elimination of the marriage penalty;
• Permanent increase in the child tax credit to $1,000 per child;
• Tax relief for businesses that create jobs in Western New York;
• Permanent repeal of the Death Tax, which affects many farmers and small businesses in Western New York;
• Tax credits for higher education to allow workers to gain the skills they need today to succeed in the workforce of tomorrow.

Protecting Jobs and Creating an Environment for Entrepreneurship:
 
Western New York has a workforce second to none as well as a history of successful entrepreneurship and innovation. Yet despite this great economic history, Western New York faces many obstacles in its drive to become more competitive and more successful.   These obstacles include the highest taxes in the country, higher costs of doing business and burdensome regulations. These forces are beginning to choke the life out of Western New York's innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. That is why Congressman Reynolds has fought to lower taxes, reduce burdensome regulation, end costly litigation and provide important federal investments for local companies.
 
Congressman Reynolds also knows that Western New York can be a leader in the global economy. He understands that more open markets mean more customers for Western New York businesses. But he will not tolerate unfair global trading partners like China and is fighting to level the playing field for Western New York companies.
 
Congressman Reynolds is working at the federal level to achieve these goals by:

• Fighting to save the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, an important program for local manufacturers to keep jobs in New York;
• Sponsoring the U.S. Trade Rights Enforcement Act which would ensure that our trading partners are playing by the rules;
• Securing millions of dollars in federal funding for local high-tech companies and small businesses.

Fighting for Seniors and Protecting Your Retirement:

Congressman Reynolds has been a leader in helping to provide our seniors with the best care possible and ensuring that they have the resources they need to live fuller, freer lives. He has also been fighting to protect seniors from scam artists looking to take advantage of them through investment scams and identity theft.
 
Congressman Reynolds is helping seniors receive the best medical care by:

• Supporting prescription drug coverage through Medicare, for the first time ever, saving seniors an average of $1,100 on their prescription drug costs;
• Fighting any waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare to ensure seniors continue to receive the best and most efficient care possible.

Social Security benefits must be protected for all seniors.  He will fight to preserve and protect the benefits of today's retirees, and help to improve the system so future generations can enjoy their benefits as well.   And while Congress continues to debate ways to preserve, protect and improve Social Security, Congressman Reynolds is also fighting to save seniors from the problems of identity theft and higher taxes.
 
Reynolds efforts at the federal level include:

• Preventing the fraudulent misuse of Social Security Cards and enhancing privacy protections for senior's Social Security numbers;
• Fighting to repeal the 1993 Bill Clinton led tax increase on Social Security benefits.

Reynolds is working on behalf of Western New York seniors to ensure they have the best medical care, lower prescription drug costs, a higher standard of living and lower taxes.
 
In addition to Medicare and Social Security, many seniors rely on pensions from years of hard work at companies like Delphi, General Motors and Kodak.    Congressman Reynolds knows that these pensions are a retiree's ticket to a comfortable retirement.  That is why he has fought hard to protect those pensions with a comprehensive pension retirement plan.  This plan will strengthen the pension system for current workers, current retirees and future retirees.
